On Thursday, a group of Georgia voters filed a lawsuit seeking to keep Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green from voting in November over her alleged role in the January 6 Capitol attack.
The complaint alleges that Greene “voluntarily assisted and participated in the rebellion to obstruct the peaceful transfer of the presidency by depriving her of her right to be a member of Congress.”
The legal document points to Section Three of the 14th Amendment, which states that no sworn member of Congress “shall participate in insurrection or rebellion” against the United States.
The Constitution’s definition of participation is broad in the sense that a person simply has to voluntarily “help” an uprising.
“Planning or assisting in the planning of an uprising or insurrection satisfies this definition,” the complaint says. As well as “planning a demonstration or procession to a government building” that a person – in this case, Green – can lead to an uprising, the applicant claims.

The documents point to a comment made by Green on Newsmax TV on Jan. 5.
“This is our 1776 moment,” she said, saying she was echoing what was said in a meeting with other GOP lawmakers.
The United States declared independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776, leading to the Revolutionary War.
In the same speech, Greene applauded then-Georgian Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler for signaling that she would be contesting some Electoral College votes on January 6, when Congress met to confirm the victory of current President Joe Biden.
“In addition, the organizers of the January 6 demonstration report that she met with them in advance,” the complaint says. “The organizers’ stated goal was to force Vice President Pence to ignore multiple state electoral votes and declare Trump the winner of the 2020 election.”
“The potential for violence during this plan was obvious to outsiders and probably more so to those directly involved,” he adds.
The lawsuit was filed by Free Speech For People, the law firm Emery Celli Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Maazel LLP, and Georgia civil rights lawyer Brian L. Sells.
“Free Speech for the People” was also part of a similar lawsuit filed by 11 North Carolina voters who hoped to keep Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorne out of the midterm vote for the same reasons.
Earlier this month, a federal judge blocked the lawsuit.
“A judge has already dismissed the exact same lawsuit against Madison Cawthorne by the same dishonest lawyers,” Greene told in a political campaign statement.
“This is the same sinister scenario that crooked Communist Democrats are using against President Trump and his family. Now they’re using it on me because they know I’m efficient and won’t bow to the DC machine responsible for a $30 TRILLION debt, a national security crisis at the border, and runaway inflation, gas prices, and crime. . I will never stop fighting for the good people of Northwest Georgia,” the MP continued.
“As I have said many times, I am strongly opposed to all forms of political violence, including the Black Lives Matter terrorist attacks that were funded by Kamala Harris and Ilhan Omar on the Democrat fundraising platform ActBlue. I have never encouraged political violence and never will,” she added.
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green said people in Washington D.C. don’t understand what she says because they live in a bubble.
Representatives Marjorie Taylor Green (right) and Laruen Bobert (left) yelled at President Joe Biden during his March 1 speech to the US Congress.
On Wednesday, The Washington Times quoted her as saying that people in Washington, D.C., don’t understand what she’s saying because they live in a bubble.
“They’re out of touch with real Americans, and that’s their problem, not mine,” said the Georgia Republican. “I believe and share the same thoughts and feelings as people in our area.”
In her nearly 15 months in Congress, Greene has stood out by dabbling in conspiracy theories, getting into arguments with her peers in the hallways, and yelling at President Joe Biden during her address to Congress this month.
Her refusal to wear a mask on the floor of the House of Representatives during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in her being charged with a fine of more than $100,000, which was deducted from her $174,000 annual salary.
She has been protesting the COVID-19 restrictions for months.
Green told The Times that her constituents and other like-minded voters are “offended” and “upset” that “Washington is basically preaching and looking down on the rest of America.”
“I think our federal government is a complete failure,” she added.
This week, Green caught everyone’s attention when she said that the Ukrainian invasion was due to the country “teasing the bear, that is, Russia.”
“And that’s the hard truth to accept – Ukraine can’t win here,” Greene told BKP Politics host Brian K. Pritchard in an interview posted online Tuesday.
While Green swore she had no sympathy for Putin, she suggested that the media overestimated Ukraine’s ability to deter Russian forces.
“Russia is very successful with the invasion, although we hear different things on television,” she said. “What we see and know what is really happening there – I see no way out for Ukraine.”
She also said that Biden is keeping American troops out of the way because the destruction of Ukraine also spells doom for any evidence of wrongdoing when it comes to Hunter Biden’s son’s business dealings in the country, which Republicans also link to the president.
“In fact, it is breathtaking to watch the war unfolding in Ukraine, which is so tragic for the Ukrainian people. People always suffer, but Joe Biden is completely on the sidelines,” Greene said.
“And that’s just – this is the optimal situation for him, because any evidence will be completely destroyed if it’s not already in Ukraine when Putin and his Russian military invade and complete the takeover of Ukraine,” she added, calling Biden. “compromised”.
Biden said that American troops would not fight the Russians in Ukraine because it would escalate into a “Third World War.”
Green also promoted a version from the Kremlin that Ukrainian forces were filled with Nazis.
“But the other thing that the media don’t do and they’re very involved in is they don’t tell the truth – they should be talking about neo-Nazi militia groups that are very closely linked to the Ukrainian National Guard and their armed forces,” she said. .
“This happened after Democrats have been calling Republicans Nazis for five or six years now and after they called Trump “Hitler,” which is the most offensive and horrible name you could ever give to anyone. And Republicans are definitely not Nazis,” Green continued. .
“But it shocks me that Congress is so willing to send $14 billion in military equipment to Ukraine again and again, and you have to ask, does this money and this United States military equipment end up in the hands of the Nazis in Ukraine?” she considered.
Green was likely referring to Azov, a far-right military infantry group operating in Ukraine after the annexation of Crimea in 2014, but also lends credibility to Putin’s story that Russia invaded Ukraine in an attempt to “denazify” the country. .
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is a Jew.
Green also told Pritchard that “there are biolabs in Ukraine.”
Russia also insisted that the war was justified because the US had labs all over Ukraine secretly developing biological weapons.
The Pentagon said it has invested $200 million in Ukraine since 2005 as part of its Biothreat Reduction Program to lock down unsecured biological materials after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Earlier this week, Green introduced a bill to ban funding for so-called “biological weapons.”
Speaking about party politics, Greene said she often harassed members of her own party, saying they need to “have a plan that will save America and stop our country from rapidly sliding into – I used to say socialism, now I call it communism” she said.
She said even more “terrible” was the concept of “globalism”.
“Given that yesterday Biden was literally calling for a “new world order”, after the pandemic and the war that we are seeing, it could escalate into World War III in Ukraine,” she said.
Greene and several other right-wing lawmakers have accused Biden of using the phrase “Monday” as conspiracy theorists have used the “New World Order” for years to describe an elite conspiracy to form a massive global “shadow government.”
