A heavy hailstorm that began falling in the middle of the afternoon has forced the closure of the AP-7 motorway in both directions between the Barcelona towns of Llinars del Vallès and Sant Celoni, while the snow has also cut off the transverse axis in Santa Coloma de Farners ( Girona). According to TV3, the storm, which began at 4:30 p.m., caused highway closures and traffic jams that stranded motorists for at least five hours. At 10 p.m. there were delays of up to 9.5 kilometers between Vallgorguinsa and Sant Celoni on the AP-7 towards Girona at the height between Vilalba Saserra and Cardedeu.

The Servei Catalí de Trànsit has reported that the hailstorm also affected traffic on the C-35 in the same Vallès region, as well as on the C-25 between Espinelves (Girona) and Sant Juliès. from Vilatorta (Barcelona). According to Trónsit, various employees are currently working on removing the ice from the hailstorm and spreading salt on the road so that the highway can be reopened. Shortly before the AP-7 was interrupted due to this meteorological incident, an accident occurred on this road towards Girona, which caused three kilometers of traffic jams in Santa Maria de Palautordera (Barcelona).
On the C-25 highway, known as the Transversal Axis, the snow has also caused traffic to be disrupted between Santa Coloma de Farners and Folgueroles, both in the province of Barcelona. In this case, the Territorial Ministry of the Generalitat activated snow removal machines to clean the road and spread salt.

Three centimeters of snow has accumulated in the area of Santa Fe del Montseny (Barcelona), according to a statement from the Catalan Meteorological Service (Meteocat).
