The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) received a report of a vehicle theft in the Sainte-Thérèse-de-Lisieux district of Beauport County around 4:30 a.m. Friday.
The stolen car was located minutes later by patrol officers as it was traveling west on Highway 40.
“Police immediately called headquarters as the highway falls within their area of responsibility. It was they who then took over,” said SPVQ spokesman David Pelletier.
A rapid police chase then began for several kilometers between the Sûreté du Québec and the suspect. The latter branched off at a certain point in the direction of Pont-Rouge.
The thief eventually left the street at a work area near the Jean Coutu store on Dupont Street. The vehicle was damaged and he then fled on foot.
“Police and a dog handler are still looking for him,” concludes SQ spokesman Claude Doiron. They search the area to find him. »
