How Taylor Swift's doting parents are closely involved in the megastar's Eras tour and have supported her rise to global fame… after her father Scott handed out VIP wristbands at the Melbourne show

Taylor Swift's loving parents are closely involved with her global Eras tour and have long supported her meteoric rise to fame.

The global megastar, 34, is currently in Australia for her highly anticipated tour and has already performed at three sold-out shows in Melbourne ahead of her Sydney performances.

On the first night of her tour Down Under, her dad Scott was seen handing out VIP wristbands to lucky fans as he accompanied her on the big trip to Australia.

But his involvement doesn't stop there, as Scott and his wife Andrea have long been closely involved with Taylor's tours, helping her rise to global superstar status.

Here, Chron Australia takes a look at Taylor's parents' touring duties and how they helped her achieve her dreams.

Marketing manager Andrea and stockbroker Scott tied the knot in 1988 before welcoming their daughter Taylor the following year, 1989.

In 1992, they welcomed Taylor's brother Austin and the family lived on a Christmas tree farm in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania – which inspired their 2019 hit of the same name.

Her loving parents became aware of her passion for music at a young age and the family moved to Nashville when Taylor was 14 to help her pursue her dream of becoming a singer.

Andrea previously told Entertainment Weekly about the move: “I never wanted to make the move for her to make it.”

“Because what a terrible thing it would have been if it hadn’t happened, that she would have carried around that kind of guilt or pressure.

“We always told her that it's not about putting food on our table or making our dreams come true,” she added.

However, in 2004, when she was just 14 years old, Taylor signed a record deal with Sony, becoming the youngest signing in the label's history. The following year she signed with Big Machine Records.

She told the Great American Country Network in 2008, “My mother and I were always very close.” She was always the friend who was always there.

“There were times when I didn't have many friends in middle and high school. But my mother was always my friend. Always.'

In 2010, Taylor won the Grammy Album of the Year for “Fearless” and dedicated the win to her parents, saying, “This is for all the times this is.” [my dad] said I could do whatever I wanted in life. And my mother, you are my best friend.'

Taylor's parents have not only helped her pursue music, but they have also become a key role in her marketing strategy and play a large role in her major world tours.

In 2009, Taylor shared that her father Scott was a “social butterfly” who “loves touring,” proving how close-knit the family is.

Andrea and Scott, who reportedly split quietly in 2011, are known to have been handing out Taylor Swift-branded guitar picks and bracelets at their daughter's concerts.

Her parents have attended many of her Eras touring shows so far, and in April 2023, Taylor greeted her parents at a performance in Houston, where they got married.

She said, “I love you, Houston!” You treat us like Houston is my mom's hometown, and it is. You treat us like my parents got married here, and that’s true.”

In July 2023, Swiftie and TikTok user Dom uploaded a video of himself fawning over Andrea before an Eras Tour concert.

In the video, which has racked up over 170,000 likes on the social media platform, Andrea recognizes the superfan and his mother and agrees to give Taylor his letter.

One fan gushed: “You can really see why Taylor is the person she is when you see how kind her mother is.” “She raised Tay well.”

Another added: “Taylor got it from her mom, the nicest person!”

According to fan speculation, Andrea is also often tasked with finding the lucky fan who will receive Taylor's iconic “22” bowler hat.

In Eras Tour tradition, Taylor brings a fan on stage and swaps them a friendship bracelet for her famous black bowler – with young Milana Bruno, nine, becoming the first Swiftie to receive the hat on the Australian tour.

There has been a lot of speculation about how the lucky fans are chosen, and while it hasn't been confirmed, many fans believe that Taylor's mother Andrea often looks out in the crowd before shows.

Taylor's father, Scott, isn't afraid to get in on the touring antics either, often handing out guitar picks to the crowd as he watches his daughter perform.

After his unwavering support, Taylor kindly gave him a DIY all-access pass at the start of the Eras tour in March 2023.

She made a makeshift lanyard that read “Dad of Headliner” in an adorable gesture and said, “Made my dad's tour badge.” “We're a small family business.”

Scott has now accompanied Taylor on her Australian shows Down Under and is making the dreams of happy fans come true at her shows.

On the first night of her Australian tour at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the kind-hearted Scott gifted some lucky fans $2,000 worth of VIP wristbands, leaving them overwhelmed.

Eager fans had arrived hours before the concert to avoid the queues and it paid off when Scott surprised some by converting their tickets into VIP passes.

The heartwarming act of kindness was shared on Instagram by 3AW presenter Jacqui Felgate, who posted a screenshot of a message from an unknown person detailing the exchange.

The message explained that a mother and her daughter had secured limited-view seats at the last minute, but were presented with $2,000 worth of VIP wristbands by Taylor's father upon their arrival at the MCG.

Taylor's loving father Scott was said to have gone into the crowd to hand out the coveted bracelets and fans were amazed by his incredible kindness.

The message detailed: “Good news from the MCG.” My friend and her daughter had the cheap, limited seating from yesterday's release and were rocking as soon as the gates opened.

“I sat down and Taylor Swift's dad walked by and gave them wristbands and access to the VIP area – apparently worth about $2,000 in total.”

“Really good luck and how generous and kind Papa Swift is!!!”

“I asked if I could at least get her a cheap seat since she got an upgrade because I almost sold my soul to get tickets,” the person added.

Fans were quick to take to the comments section to express their disbelief at the extraordinary story after Swifties desperately tried to get last-minute tickets over the past few days.

They gushed: “Proud parents doing it right”; “Papa Swift is the best”; “How good are they?” Taylor and her parents appreciate the fans;'

“Wow, wow, wow – simply fabulous”; “This is the best feel-good story”; “He seems to be the best. Imagine if you could do that for people!!”
