Renascer, a remake of the saga by Benedito Ruy Barbosa, shown on Globo in 1993, debuted with violent scenes. José Inocêncio (Humberto Carrão) was attacked by Firmino's (Enrique Diaz) thugs, skinned, stitched and left almost dead at Cândida's (Maria Fernanda Cândido) door. Inácia (Edvana Carvalho) performed a healing ritual and the stranger opened his eyes and began to recover.
Firmino collected a debt from Cândida's dead husband, who declared that he could give the farm to the devil, but not into his hands. In a conversation with Father Santo (Chico Diaz), she made it clear that she does not believe in the suicide simulation they carried out with the death of her husband, who owed a lot to the loan shark.
José Inocêncio offered to take care of the land and pay the widow with the cocoa pods he would harvest. He then implemented his new planting method with the help of Deocletian (Adanilo Reis).
After three years, José Inocêncio came out of the country completely recovered and harvested his cocoa crop. The colonels commented on how he managed to get rid of the pest and harvest highquality fruits. The farmer who has become a legend in the Ilhéus region (BA) has already made many enemies.

- After being left almost dead at Cândida's door, José Inocêncio underwent a healing ritual performed by Inácia (Edvana Carvalho).
- Inácia told Cândida that José Inocêncio had woken up and wanted to buy the farm to pay with cocoa harvests.
- José Inocêncio worked with Deocleciano, and the soap opera showed the crowd of farmers working on Cândida's land, with a shot illustrating the passage of three years in the story
- José Inocêncio reappeared and complained about being called a little colonel
- Venâncio (Fabio Lago) rehearsed the Bumba Meu Boi party and Maria Santa (Duda Santos) asked to participate
- Mary Santa prayed before an image of Our Lady and asked to go and live
