Forward Alex Galchenyuk, whose contract was recently terminated by the Arizona Coyotes, is said to have made violent threats against police officers in Scottsdale in an incident last week.
This is according to the police report obtained by Arizona media 12 News.
According to the allegations, Galchenyuk threatened a police officer who intervened in a hit-and-run situation by threatening to “chop” him and cutting out the kidneys of his family members.
“I will put an end to your lineage. One call and you’re dead,” Galchenyuk reportedly warned the police.
Galchenyuk’s father was at the scene and, according to the report, told officers he had never seen his son so aggressive.
The former Montreal Canadiens forward is also said to have racially abused an African-American police officer, according to a police officer.
Galchenyuk signed with the Coyotes on July 1 to a one-year, $775,000 contract as an unrestricted free agent.
Two weeks later, the Coyotes issued him waivers to terminate his contract without explanation.
Sports site The Athletic then learned that the third pick in the 2012 draft was arrested by Scottsdale Police on Sunday, July 9. He was released the next day.
Galchenyuk faces charges of hit-and-run, disorderly conduct, insubordination, resisting arrest, threats and intimidation.
