Iran hosts European representatives for nuclear deals

In his meeting with Mora, Abdolahian lamented the lack of a political decision by Washington to lift the sanctions, the current obstacle to an agreement in Vienna, according to a report in Spanish by Iranian TV channel Hispantv.

As part of a further step in talks to lift sanctions on Iran, Mora arrived in that capital to meet with senior Persian country officials, including Iran’s chief negotiator, Ali Baqeri Kani.

Mora will leave for Washington tomorrow, Monday, to meet with US authorities on the outcome of their meeting.

Underlining the seriousness of the Iranian side at the talks in Vienna, the Austrian capital, Abdolahian stated that the United States must offer a realistic approach to solving pending problems.

The absence of a political decision by the United States to lift the sanctions, coupled with the economic benefits to the Iranian people, is the current obstacle to reaching the final results, the Persian foreign minister reiterated.

For the diplomat, the enforcement of all economic interests and the effective lifting of sanctions are the top priorities in the country of the Persians.

Tehran remains committed to reaching a good deal in Vienna and is urging Washington to drop its excessive demands to allow the pact to be restored.

Meanwhile, the White House is sticking to its sanctions policy, even refusing to remove Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from its list of terrorism-promoting groups.

The President of Iran’s Strategic Council on External Relations, Seyed Kamal Jarazi, dismissed this action by Washington, assuring that the IRGC is a national army that cannot be classified as a terrorist group and is certainly unacceptable.

Since April 2021, Iran and the 4+1 group (UK, France, China, Russia and Germany) have been conducting eight rounds of negotiations in Vienna with the aim of reviving the nuclear agreement, officially called the Comprehensive Plan of Joint Action (PIAC) .

The revival of the PIAC requires, as a sine qua non, the lifting of sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran by unilaterally withdrawing from the pact in 2018, Tehran authorities reiterate.
