After a protest against the Mandatory head scarf in Iran is an engineer, according to media reports sentenced to 74 lashes. As the Norwegian-based human rights organization Hengaw announced on Saturday, the sentence has been suspended for five years.

Zeynab Kazempour attracted a lot of attention in February for her speech at the event demonstratively threw the handkerchief on the floor. The video of the action was widely shared on the Internet. The woman protested an engineers’ association’s decision not to allow her to run in council elections because of an ill-fitting headscarf.

Women ignore mandatory headscarves in protest
Since the death of the Iranian Kurd Jina Mahsa Amini In police custody for about a year, many women in the country’s main cities are ignoring the obligation to wear a headscarf in protest against the Islamic system of government. Amini was arrested because she allegedly violated the prevailing dress code.
