The 73-year-old Israeli Prime Minister passes “medical examinations”. He was hospitalized during the Yom Kippur fast last October.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was hospitalized for tests on Saturday, July 15, his office said, stressing that the 73-year-old prime minister was “in good condition”. “The prime minister recently arrived at Sheba Medical Center,” Israel’s largest hospital near Tel Aviv, his office said in a statement. “He is in good condition and is undergoing a medical check-up,” the statement continued.
In a second statement, Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said he spent time in the sweltering heat of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel on Friday, July 14. “Today he was slightly dizzy and on the advice of his personal physician, Dr. Zvi Berkowitz, he was taken to Sheba’s emergency room,” the statement said. “The initial tests showed normal results,” the same source said. “The initial diagnosis points to dehydration,” his office said, adding that the prime minister will undergo a series of further tests.

Binyamin Netanyahu, who won the November 2022 election with his allies from the ultra-Orthodox and far-right parties, is fighting domestically, where he is facing relentless opposition to his government’s propagated judicial reform project. In addition, he has been accused of corruption in a number of cases. His trial opened in May 2020, a first in Israel for a sitting prime minister. Benjamin Netanyahu denies the allegations against him and sees himself as a victim of a witch hunt. In October, he was hospitalized overnight after feeling unwell during the Yom Kippur fast.
