While Brooks Koepka was chasing his dream of winning a fifth Major at the PGA Championship over the weekend, his wife, Sports Illustrated swimsuit hopeful Jena Sims, was also chasing her dream.

The 34-year-old Sims responded Monday to a separate TikTok troll updating the model of their whereabouts over the weekend, with the mom-to-be explaining she’s splitting her time between New York and Florida as part of the opening week celebrations for the 2023 edition of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.

“Yes, clearing out the trophy case was hilarious and fun. That’s not the real reason I couldn’t watch my husband win the PGA tournament,” Sims said, referencing Sunday’s post in which she sees dusting to make room for Koepka’s Wanamaker Trophy.

“Actually, I was chasing one of my dreams. I’m one of Sports Illustrated SwimSearch’s top 7 finalists, which means I’m in the running for the rookie spot for the magazine. I’ve checked out Brooks every chance I get, but I’m honored to be such a part of this community and this weekend was launch weekend.”

Sims, who has long dreamed of appearing in Sports Illustrated’s “Swimsuit,” subsequently shared various clips and photos of herself attending the celebrations while interacting with other models.

“There were three straight nights celebrating all the amazing women featured in the magazine. And while I know it seems like I’m just messing around and dressing up in fancy outfits, this is actually a lot bigger,” Sims said.

“It’s such a great community to be a part of and this was really my first chance to meet more swimsuit models and spend some time with the staff, which I did.”

Sims ended her message with a shot at the critics, explaining, “Just saying I’m dressing up here is pretty much the same as telling Brooks he only played the PGA only to end up with beer from it to drink what he has done, but it is deeper than that.”

In the caption of her post, Sims expressed that “we have such a successful relationship because I have my own dreams and career.”

Koepka – who will celebrate his first wedding anniversary with Sims next month – told reporters at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York that he has bonded with his wife after clinching the first major win of his career since 2019.

“I called my wife and that was it. That’s the only person I want to talk to right now,” Koepka said.

“My boys are here, just hanging out with them and talking to my wife.”

Koepka, who finished second to Jon Rahm at the Masters in April, posted a 67 with a 9-under aggregate in Sunday’s finals.

Sunday’s win marked the third PGA championship of Koepka’s career and what he described as “probably the most meaningful.”

“Forgive my language but that’s all the shit I’ve had to go through. Nobody knows all the pain. It often happened that I just couldn’t even bend my knee. Yes, it felt good. It felt really good,” said the 33-year-old.

Koepka, who has struggled with injuries in recent years, is now the first member of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour to win a major.

It’s certainly been an exciting few weeks for Koepka and Sims, who announced earlier this month that they are expecting their first child together, a baby boy.
