A solo home run by Toronto’s Joey Votto robbed the Blue Jays of a Sunday in Toronto when the Cincinnati Reds won 3-2.

Votto tied for a 2-2 in the eighth inning and was the veteran’s first homer of the season, who was limited to 12 hits in 26 games this season.
Aristides Aquino hit an automatic double at bat in the first round to produce the first two runs of the game. Jay’s starter Yusei Kikuchi didn’t give up an extra run after that, finishing the game with two saves and three walks in four and a third inning.
Graham Ashcraft opened the meeting for the visitors. He also gave up two runs brought in by Matt Chapman and Bo Bichette in four and a third innings. Alexis Diaz (2-0) grabbed a second win of the season and Art Warren had the save.
Yimi Garcia (0-3) sees action in Game 17 and is still looking for a first win.
Charlie Montoyo’s team will now travel to St. Louis for a two-game series against the Cardinals, which is scheduled to begin Monday.

Franchy Cordero delicately hit his first homer of the season in Boston to end the Red Sox’s duel against the Seattle Mariners with a grand slam at the end of the 10th inning.
The Massachusetts squad thus defeated the Mariners by signing a fifth straight win, this time by a score of 8 to 4.
The win went to Jake Diekman (1-0) while Andrés Munoz (1-2) was on the mound when Cordero fired.
