Kasimir Kaskisuo convinced the Rocket

Goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo joined the Laval Rocket in mid-December on a professional tryout and did enough to earn a contract through the end of the 2023-2024 season on Monday.

This agreement is uniform in the American Hockey League (AHL). Financial details of the pact were not disclosed.

The 30-year-old Finn has been impressive since joining the Montreal Canadiens farm club. He posted a record of 5-1-0, a goals-against average of 2.70 and a save percentage of .923. He suffered his first loss with the Rockets in his last start on Saturday.

In Kaskisuo, head coach Jean-François Houle found a good replacement in Jakub Dobes, who has regained self-confidence since the veteran's arrival. The latter spent the last two seasons in Europe, but also has extensive experience in the AHL. He also played two games in the National League with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Nashville Predators.
