Lifelong diarrhea after taking Ozempic

A 23-year-old woman will live with diarrhea for the rest of her life after taking Ozempic, the Chron has learned.

Brea Hand had to visit the hospital five times before she was diagnosed with gastroparesis, which may have been caused by the blockbuster drug.

Although this injection pen is usually prescribed to control diabetes, its use has been discouraged by people who want to lose weight.

In fact, millions of Americans bought it over the counter, creating a shortage.

Around 40 lawsuits have been filed in the US against drug maker Novo Nordisk for allegedly causing disabling stomach paralysis and extreme side effects to its users without warning, according to a report in the exclusive Chron.

According to Cameron Stephenson, an attorney with the law firm Levin Papantonio Rafferty, thousands of others have also reported serious reactions to the drug and could push the movement.

Eli Lilly, the maker of Ozempic competitor Mounjaro, which is also the subject of similar allegations, is facing at least ten lawsuits.

Other extreme cases of side effects have been reported by complainants.

Another woman who took Ozempic and Mounjaro also reported suffering from gastroparesis after consuming these products, which resulted in vomiting and tooth loss.

Zakareeya Gregory was in hospital for four weeks and had to have her gallbladder removed due to complications allegedly caused by taking Ozempic.
