Lithium: Ford is supplied at the Bécancour plant for its electric vehicles

American automaker Ford Motor Company has entered into an agreement with Nemaska ​​Lithium and will source lithium products from its Bécancour plant in the Center-du-Québec region for the production of batteries for electric vehicles (EVs).

The agreement has been signed for 11 years, Nemaska ​​Lithium reported in a press release on Monday, and specifically provides for the supply of a maximum of 13,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide per year.

This project will be the first to produce lithium hydroxide in Quebec.

The lithium hydroxide produced by the Quebec company and supplied to the automaker will meet high standards in terms of quality and sustainable development, thanks in particular to one of the lowest carbon footprints in the industry, the press release says.
