Jock Zonfrillo’s widow Lauren Fried has admitted she didn’t watch the current season of MasterChef Australia following the shock death of her husband.

An emotional Lauren took to Instagram on Sunday night and urged fans to join her as she watched the show for the very first time.

“We haven’t been able to watch this season yet — we will,” Lauren began.

“But we felt it was important to be there tonight. As with most families, there are moments throughout the year that are special and we really enjoyed watching the finale together.”

“Jock was really proud of that.” It was a job he really loved. And so we decided to honor that and continue to do what we would normally do and watch the finals together.”

Lauren went on to thank fans for their kind words following Jock’s death.

“I was actually going to do this without editing, but I had to take a minute. Thank you all. I loved the messages I received today.

“Of course it made me sad, but that brings a lot of happiness and pride to Jock.’ So enjoy the finale.’

Lauren’s post was quickly inundated with well-wishers.

“My heart breaks for you, Loz.” You are a brave woman who will do what you do for him and keep his memory alive. Because of this I haven’t been able to watch MC but will in time as I love food but will see Jock back in his element,” one fan wrote.

“Loz, you are surrounded by so much love from the MasterChef fans everywhere.” Thank you for letting us see Jock and tonight we celebrate @Zonfrillo’s wonderful husband. I can understand why jock fell in love with you. “You are a very special woman,” added another.

Lauren’s post came after fans called for the show to be a permanent tribute to Zonfrillo.

Ahead of the final episode, followers took to Instagram to urge Channel 10 to re-brand the MasterChef Australia Winners Trophy in honor of the late celebrity chef.

“Please rename the MasterChef trophy the Jock Zonfrillo plate,” begged one follower, and another added, “Will the trophy be named after Jock?”
