The mixed score falls far short of the perfect 100 percent score of the original animated serieswhich has an audience rating of 98%. The 2010 feature film adaptation by M. Reviews for Avatar: The Last Airbender are mixed
A positive review from Consequence critic Jonah Krueger states: “Is it as good as the original series? Not really, but would it ever be? The more important question is this: Did it make sense to undertake such a project? The answer is a resounding yes. Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender is more than just enjoyable, offering an entertaining mix of nostalgia and new ideas, combining the novelty of seeing elemental bending in “real life” with the excitement of an evolving, worthwhile story. Come for the eye-catching adaptation of your favorite fight scene and stay for a new take on the story that once captured your heart.
A negative review by AV Club critic Jenna Sherer states: “Ultimately, it's hard to say who exactly this version of Avatar is intended for. Fans of the original will be disappointed by the series' charmless, eerie portrayal of the world they see and love. Newcomers may generally be put off. There's an argument for live-action versions of popular animated series; One Piece from Netflix, for example, is an exuberant remix of the classic anime that relishes its cartoon character. “Avatar: The Last Airbender” tries so hard to carry the weight of its legacy that it ends up sweating.

Like the animated series, the series is set in a war-torn empire and draws inspiration from various Asian and Native American cultures. Certain people have the ability to “bend” one of the four classic elements: water, earth, fire or air. Revered as the Avatar and the only surviving airbender, Aang serves as a link between the mortal and spirit worlds. Unlike others, he has the extraordinary ability to manipulate all four elements, maintaining harmony in the world. Faced with the daunting task of thwarting the aggressive ambitions of the militaristic Fire Nation, whose goal is world domination, Aang must assume his role as peacemaker. Accompanied by newfound allies Katara and Sokka, Aang embarks on a journey to master the four elements while being relentlessly pursued by Zuko, the exiled crown prince of the Fire Nation, driven by a desire to regain his honor by capturing the Avatar to restore.
The live-action series stars Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Dallas Liu (Zuko) and Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Ozai).
