Parisians upset over filming of 'Emily in Paris'

“Emily not welcome”, “Emily, get out of there!” Paris is not yours!” The beautiful Emily would no longer be welcome in Paris, says the graffiti that has been proliferating on the shop windows of 5 for the past monthe District.

Many Parisians are tired of having to deal with the constraints that come with the Netflix blockbuster “Emily in Paris,” reports Vanity Fair France magazine.

Residents and business owners in the neighborhood where the fourth season of the popular American series is currently being filmed would feel “some kind of anger” if they were raided by film crews.

In addition to hosting the series “Emily in Paris”, the district also recently received visits from the teams from the film “The Killer” by David Fincher and “La page blanche”, an adaptation of the comic by Boulet and Pénélope Bagieu.

Already in 2021, during the filming of the second season, the despair of local residents at the “arrogance of blockbusters” was the subject of an article in the newspaper Le Monde.

The fountain in the middle of the small square in the Latin Quarter (where the character Emily lives in the series) would also have received graffiti reading “Emily sucks.” A unique message that has since been deleted.

The series Emily in Paris follows the adventures of Emily Jane Cooper, an American from Chicago who agrees to move to Paris for her corporate and marketing job. Season 1 debuted on Netflix in 2020, amid a global pandemic, to more than 58 million households. In 2022, it was the most watched series on the platform.

Filming for the fourth season of “Emily in Paris” will take place in Paris from February 19th to 24th. We don't know the release date for the fourth season on Netflix yet.
