Europe should start preparing for the eventuality that Donald Trump, former US president, is re-elected in the next presidential election, said the President of the Republic Petr Pavel in an interview for Czech Radio.
In his words, Petr Pavel primarily referred to the war in Ukraine. According to the president, it is possible that if elected, Trump could reach a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin that could harm both Ukraine and Europe.
Pavel added that he did not want to question NATO relations and the US's role as a loyal ally, but rather wanted to target Donald Trump's views, which differed from Czech foreign policy.
