Tons of burgers!
After Putin Week, Burger Week is probably my second favorite! Around thirty restaurants in the region are taking part in this 12th edition, which runs until September 14th. It is an opportunity to taste unique gastronomic creations created specifically for the event. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a fan of more classic cheeseburgers or more avant-garde offerings. Lebanese restaurant Zeitoun, which serves excellent shish-taouk on the second floor of the Grand Marché de Québec, is making its debut this year.

The owner has created a burger that pays homage to her roots with a beef patty with za’atar. Add fresh cilantro sauce, Swiss cheese and a crunchy, slightly vinegary-sweet carrot salad. This flavor explosion takes place between two slices of brioche bread. If you’re more into ribs, you’ll fall for the creation of Faite à l’os at Grande Allée. In a potato bun, the chef placed smoked beef ribs, topped with breaded Cantonnier cheese, candied onions and sweet onion mayonnaise. Wow!

A Celtic festival
The Quebec Celtic Festival continues to develop its gourmet component. The Celtic Flavor Feast is back for the fourth time and uses last year’s winning formula. Under a marquee, guests gather at large tables in a festive atmosphere to enjoy a 3-course meal with beer. It is one of Cité agricole’s partners who creates the tempting menu: pumpkin soup with pulled pork, roast pork with mead sauce, accompanied by Caesar salad and garnished potatoes, and apple pie with caramel maple and crème fraîche. “It’s a unifying formula,” says general manager Cynthia Hovington, who has seen increasing interest in this aspect of her program, which also offers a pub crawl in the region.

The night of the galleries
Organizers have pulled out all the stops to enrich the gourmet offerings during Galleries Night, which this year coincides with the welcome of three cruise ships to the port of Quebec. “It will be a great meeting event between locals and tourists,” believes organizer Yann Latouche. With enough to eat, the participants drive 1.2 km through the most beautiful streets of the Petit Champlain district to visit around forty art galleries that are open until 11 p.m. The gourmet area at Place de Paris brings together five restaurants that offer starters especially for this occasion. Among them we find two new Italian restaurants that have recently opened in the neighborhood, the antipasti bar Va Bene and the Rafaella Ristorante. You can also sample the bistronomic creations of Chez Muffy and Le Clan, chef Stéphane Modat’s new restaurant, as well as the Asian delicacies of Madame Phan. The wines from the Loire Valley are also the focus of this festive evening.
