The stylish mother-of-two, 51, did her best to host the gathering ahead of World Cancer Day on February 4.

Her husband, King Felipe, was notably absent from the event, but the former journalist took the helm and delivered a well-received speech about a cause close to her heart.

The Spanish King is permanent honorary president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer and its scientific foundation.

The queen struck the perfect balance between business and style, wowing in a black silk V-neck shirt.

She paired the blouse with a silhouette-enhancing gray houndstooth skirt and a black leather belt with a gold buckle.

The royal also wore a pair of black leather high-heel pumps and appeared to forgo a matching bag.

Her luxurious brunette locks were perfectly styled and turned out to be so straight that they seemed to glitter in the light.

Letizia's warm smile accentuated her dewy makeup, which was perfect for today's occasion.

She wore her signature neutral base, of course, and added just a touch of pink eyeshadow, black mascara, and a glossy pink lip to finish.

She opted for minimalist jewelry, wearing just three miniature gold hoops in each ear and a matching gold ring.

The event, which took place at Espacio La Salle by Eneldo, was attended by various guests, including Spanish politician Aina Vidal and Minister of Labor and Social Economy Yolanda Díaz.

Queen Letizia was clearly honored to preside over the gathering and made sure to greet everyone in attendance.

World Cancer Day is celebrated annually on February 4th worldwide and aims to raise awareness about cancer and promote the prevention, detection and treatment of various types of cancer.

Her appearance follows her near-decoration faux pas yesterday afternoon when she received members of the diplomatic corps at the royal palace.

She welcomed guests from all over the world to the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid alongside King Felipe, 56 – but all eyes were on her dropped bracelet.

The Queen proved her down-to-earth attitude when she knelt during the ceremony and picked up her dropped diamond bracelet, determined not to interrupt the proceedings.

She finished the graceful action with a warm smile before standing and regaining her composure.

Looking like she stepped out of a fairytale, Letizia stunned in a navy coat-like dress that skimmed the floor and barely covered her shoes.

She looked ethereal in the chic ensemble, which also featured round buttons, a center belt, and a V-neck design.

The royal completed the look with a stunning pair of blue pointy high heel pumps and matching sparkling jewelry.

Letizia wore a sparkling silver and sapphire set consisting of a necklace, bracelet and stunning earrings.

At some point that day, the humble king was seen playing with the clasp of the bracelet, perhaps trying to hold it in place so it wouldn't fall off again.

Letizia reassembled the bracelet without assistance and carried on with the day without pomp or fanfare.

The King's makeup was mostly nude, with the Queen opting for just a touch of peach eyeshadow, mascara and a pink glossy lip.

Her brunette locks were typically straight – for today's occasions they were styled with a side part and loose curls.

Meanwhile, King Felipe cut a dapper figure in a black suit blazer, waistcoat and striped gray trousers.

He completed the look with a matching navy blue tie and a pair of black leather loafers.

The royals were pictured in high spirits as they greeted everyone in attendance.

The diplomatic reception typically takes place in the New Year, which the couple has hosted annually since King Felipe's accession to the throne in 2014.

In total there are 126 embassies and almost consulates general in Spain, of which 153 are official and over 600 are voluntary.
