‘s Jewish community calls for musician Roger Waters to be stopped from fomenting ‘hatred and anti Semitism’

(CNN Spanish) –– The Organization of the Jewish Community of Chile (CJCh) reported on Friday that it had filed a motion for reconsideration and subsidy appeal after the Santiago Court of Appeal rejected its request for protection to ban musician Roger Waters from “using elements or Making comments that… “incite hatred and anti-Semitism” during the concerts that the leader of the band Pink Floyd will give on November 25th and 26th at the Monumental Stadium in the Chilean capital. They also demand that the production company DG Medios, responsible for the event, take the necessary measures in the same spirit.

“Roger Waters is recognized for apologizing for Nazism and spreading hate speech,” emphasized the CJCh this Friday in a message on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

Waters has defended himself against these types of accusations, arguing that the questioned elements of his shows are a “parody” and a symbol of “opposition to fascism, injustice and bigotry in all their forms.” CNN has reached out to Waters’ team for comment on these actions by the Jewish community in Chile and is awaiting their response.

The protective complaint filed by the lawyer Ariela Agosin was rejected by the court because “in the representation presented in these files there was no mention of facts that could constitute a violation of the constitutional guarantees provided for in Article 20 of the Political Constitution of the Republic”.

CNN is also trying to contact the production company DG Medios to get their position on the CJCh request.

Last May, U.S. Anti-Semitism Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt condemned Roger Waters and what she called “his despicable distortion of the Holocaust” after the musician wore a Nazi uniform on stage during a concert.
