Senators: big shout out to Craig Anderson

The Ottawa Senators should celebrate the career of the best goaltender in their history, Craig Anderson, by signing him to a one-day contract to retire in their jersey.

The TSN network found out on Thursday. The Sens could make the announcement on Tuesday during their game against the Buffalo Sabres, the last team Anderson played for.

In April, the 42-year-old played his last career duel against the Senators. The meeting was very emotional for the man who played 22 seasons in the professional ranks, including ten in Ottawa.

Anderson is the winningest goaltender in franchise history with a record of 202-168-46. He had several great moments with the Canadian captaincy team, most notably helping them reach the Eastern Conference Finals in 2017. He also won the Bill Masterton Trophy that year.

Throughout his career with the Senators, Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Washington Capitals and Sabres, the American became one of 39 goaltenders to win more than 300 games in the National League.
