Silvia Cazon new director of the Anti Doping Agency

The Governing Council of the Spanish Commission to Combat Doping in Sport (CELAD), in its meeting this Friday, approved the dismissal of José Luis Terreros as Director General of the organization and the appointment of Silvia Calzón as the new head. Silvia Calzón (Seville, 1975) is a doctor specializing in preventive medicine and public health. From August 2020 to November 2023 she was State Secretary for Health and during this time she led the vaccination campaign during the pandemic.

She was appointed at the suggestion of the President of the CELAD Governing Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, who appreciated her academic training, her professional career and the managerial capacities demonstrated in a leadership position. A Doctor of the University of Granada within the official Doctoral Program in Economics and Economics, she completed her academic training with a Master's Degree in Public Health and Health Management (University of Granada-Andalusian School of Public Health) and a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Granada Health and Medicine (University of Pompeu Fabra) and a specialization diploma in Gender and Health (University of Granada-Andalusian School of Public Health).

The new Director of CELAD has developed her research work mainly in the context of studying social inequalities in health and has participated in various research projects. She is a primary care epidemiologist and has a permanent position as a statutory officer in the Seville Health District (Andalusian Health Service). In the field of health management, he worked as manager of the health management areas south of Córdoba and south of Seville of the Andalusian Health Service.
