Singer Bebe Rexha injured after her cellphone was hit during a concert at South Street Seaport, Manhattan – WABC-TV

SOUTH STREET SEAPORT, Manhattan (WABC) – Singer Bebe Rexha was hit by a cellphone thrown out of the crowd at her concert in Lower Manhattan.

The 33-year-old was hit in the face by the flying phone around 10 p.m. Sunday at The Rooftop at Pier 17.

A 27-year-old concert-goer, Nicolas Malvagna of Manalapan, New Jersey, has been charged with assault.

He is accused of throwing the phone at the singer.

Malvagna is in police custody and is expected to be charged later Monday.

The singer, whose real name is Bleta Rexha, was taken to the hospital for a check-up. According to a published report, she received three stitches.

A video shows the phone hitting Rexha in the upper left cheek just below her eye. The concert ended when she was taken to the hospital for an examination.

On Monday, she posted a message to her fans on Instagram: “I’m fine.”
