The sexual assault complaint against Steven Tyler was dismissed.
The Aerosmith frontman was sued in November by former model Jeanne Bellino, who accused him of sexually assaulting her twice in one day in 1975 when she was 17. She filed the complaint under New York's Gender-Based Violence Act, which extends the statute of limitations for certain alleged crimes.
On Wednesday (February 21, 2024), Manhattan federal judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that the allegations must meet certain criteria to benefit from the law and that Jeanne Bellino's application did not meet the conditions because she did not allege that Steven Tylers According to Portal, he ruled that the complainant had shown a “lack of care” in failing to file a report under the Minor Victims Act, which predated the Gender-Based Violence Act.
Reacting to the dismissal, Steven Tyler's attorney David Long-Daniels said, “We agree with the judge's reasoning and are grateful for this outcome on behalf of our client.”
According to TMZ, Jeanne Bellino has until March 13 to amend her complaint. In her first complaint, she alleged that Tyler kissed, groped and rubbed her twice on the same day in 1975. The 75-year-old musician “vehemently” denied his allegations at the time.
