Strange DC3 plane crash with 26 on board captured on video from control tower

Scene from the accident video, seen in the video shown below

One person was seriously injured and 12 others were injured among the 26 who were on board a DC3 aircraft that suffered a strange accident while landing early in the afternoon of April 13.

According to video captured by a cameraman at the control tower at La Vanguardia Airport in Villavicencio, Colombia, the twin engine can be seen exiting the tarmac onto the grass, but despite the runway deviation, it continues to move towards the end of the airport. and still flies briefly, but soon crashes due to low speed to stay aloft:

“The causes of the failure are still being investigated by experts from the authorities,” said Colonel José James Roa Castañeda, deputy director of the AntiDrug Police, when commenting on the accident involving the registration plane PNC0257 of the Colombian National Police.

The officer stated that the ten police officers on board were not seriously injured, so it appears that the others on board were either civilians or crew members, although no further details are available.

According to El Tiempo, which reported 12 injured and 14 unharmed, Vanguardia Airport’s runway was closed due to the emergency, but flight operations returned to normal after ten minutes when the plane crashed outside the airport perimeter seen in the videos above.

The accident would have happened under the influence of a gust of wind, but this information is still preliminary and official sources will have to be awaited.

Coincidentally, this is the second accident involving a DC3 in Colombia in less than a week. Last Friday, April 8, a model airplane was also filmed crashing on landing (the recording can be viewed again at this link).
