Fujifilm X100VI brings 40MP and IBIS as internal updates to the social media king and is being praised in early reviews

After many leaks and rumors, Fujifilm has announced what is probably the most anticipated camera of 2024. Although the X100VI does not come with an improved lens, as we assumed last week, it is not designed for outdoor use, as we assumed last week the processor and all the advantages in terms of image quality and flexibility that these updates offer.

Key features of the Fujifilm X100VI:

  • 40MP APS-C X-Trans 5 CMOS HR sensor
  • X processor 5
  • 14-bit RAW image capture
  • 6-stage, 5-axis iBIS
  • Video: 6.2K at 29.97 FPS, 4K up to 59.94 FPS, 1080p up to 240 FPS
  • FROM ISO 125 TO 12,800
  • Built-in 4-stage ND filter

The Fujifilm Despite the internal improvements, the X100VI is only 0.5mm thicker than the X100V at minimal depth, while all other dimensions remain the same.

The Fujifilm X100VI also comes with 20 of Fujifilm's legendary film simulations out of the box. However, this time the factory will be located in China, probably to avoid the supply disaster that happened with the X100V. Autofocus has also received a significant update on the X100VI, with AI-powered subject detection and tracking reaching a level close to that of the X-T5.

According to initial reviews from sites like PetaPixel and Kevin Mullins, the IBIS of the X100VI is particularly practical, while the lens and sensor are particularly well matched, giving the device a little more sharpness than its predecessor. However, the strange connection situation on the However, there is also a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.

In addition to the classic X100VI, Fujifilm is launching the X100VI Limited Edition to celebrate the brand's 90th anniversary. The X100VI will be available in limited quantities with the unique serial number stamped on the shoe frame. Buyers of the limited edition will also receive a special soft case, strap and historic Fujifilm cards to commemorate this special year.

Contrary to previous rumors, Fujifilm says the X100VI will be available in early March with a suggested retail price of $1,599.99

Update Windows 11 KB5034765, after the taskbar the file explorer crashes

Windows 11 and Patch Tuesday

The problems surrounding the Windows 11 update KB5034765 are increasing. After the taskbar disappears, there are reports of File Explorer crashing.

KB5034765 is a cumulative update delivered to coincide with Patch Tuesday in February 2024. It is aimed at PCs running Windows 11. The content is mainly about security, but also offers bug fixes. Since its introduction in the Windows Update service, reports of malfunctions have continued to appear.

Sources have confirmed that Microsoft is investigating a bug affecting the desktop interface and the taskbar in particular. You can read our special news again: Windows 10 and Windows 11, the taskbar disappears on certain PCs. According to a recent report, this file was urgently addressed so that a fix would already be available on the server side. It would be applied automatically and would require no user intervention. This information is plausible considering that the taskbar is the central element of the Windows interface.

Windows 11, File Explorer crashes

The second “big” problem concerns a major Windows 11 application, File Explorer. A blockage is observed by some users after restarting or shutting down the PC. This bug is not new, as it appeared when Microsoft released the optional update KB5034204 online for the month of January (its content is largely provided by the February 2024 Patch Tuesday cumulative update, i.e. KB5034765).

The error is accompanied by the following error message

The instruction at 0x00007FFB20563ACa referenced the memory at 0x0000000000000024. The memory could not be written to.

Click OK to exit the program.

At the moment the problem persists despite various attempts to resolve it. Some have implemented the System File Checker tool (sfc /scannow) or a RAM test using the Windows built-in tool and memtest86+, but to no avail. However, it appears that the victims have something in common in terms of their configuration. They all have a controller, such as an Xbox 360 controller, connected to their PC. However, there is currently no established connection.

Note that for KB5034765, Microsoft mentions a fix for an issue that caused explorer.exe to fail when restarting or turning off a PC with a controller accessory attached. However, his presence does not seem to offer any solution as the cases are still current.

Finally, there are also reports of problems during installation with errors 0x800f0922, 0x800f0982 and 0x80070002. One solution seems to work. If you are affected, try deleting the hidden $WinREAgent folder. There are several possibilities for that.

The easiest way is to run the Disk Cleanup application as an administrator.

Then select the system drive and check the boxes for “Temporary files” and other relevant options.

Windows 11 – Disk Cleanup Tool

Now all you have to do is click “OK” to start the process. This will remove unnecessary files in $WinREAgent.

🧬 A new era in wound treatment

Hydrogels, engineered materials that absorb and retain water, are used for a variety of medical treatments, including wound care. However, because the hydrogel adheres indiscriminately to all surfaces, there is a risk of it damaging delicate tissue during healing. Illustration image Pixabay

Scientists at McGill University have discovered that it may be possible to modify the hydrogel's surface organization to determine not only which surfaces the material will adhere (or not), but also the strength and speed of that adhesion.

This means that the adhesive hydrogel can be programmed to adhere strongly to healthy tissue but weakly to injured tissue, thereby preventing further injury.

“This discovery could allow surgical teams to take the time necessary to properly apply a hydrogel that adheres to desired regions and only those regions,” says postdoctoral researcher Zhen Yang from McGill University's Department of Mechanical Engineering and lead author of the Study article recently published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. “The next step is to explore how this discovery might prove useful in developing devices for sustained drug release from tissue surfaces.”

The article “Programming hydrogel adhesion with engineered polymer network topology” by Zhen Yanget coll. was published in the journal PNAS.

Our test report on the affordable Galaxy Tab A9+ tablet

Published February 20, 2024 Vincent Paquette

We tested the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ tablet. This is a cost-effective alternative to high-end tablets like the iPad or Galaxy Tab S, but is suitable for anyone who wants entertainment at a cheaper price.

For many, a tablet is an extension of their smartphone that allows them to enjoy their favorite applications on a larger screen.

It remains a lighter and more portable solution than a laptop.

If this is our vision of a tablet, we don't necessarily need to spend a fortune on high-end tablets like iPads or even Samsung's Galaxy Tab S.

With the Galaxy Tab A we can easily fall back on the affordable Samsung series. We tested the Galaxy Tab A 9+.

The features of the Galaxy Tab A9+ tablet

Just like its predecessors Galaxy A7 and A7 Lite, Samsung offers one of the most economical tablets on the market with the Galaxy Tab A 9+.

This device offers good value for money with the features it offers.

A light and compact tablet

The Galaxy Tab A 9+ is a light tablet at just 480 grams.

This is due to the aluminum finish, which certainly gives it a less luxurious look, but serves its purpose very well.

We can therefore easily carry it in our bag or briefcase, although it has a thickness of just under 7 mm.

A remarkable 11-inch screen

The first sacrifice we have to make with the Galaxy Tab A 9+ is the screen quality.

Of course, in a cheap model like this we cannot benefit from an AMOLED screen.

However, we are entitled to an 11-inch LCD screen with a resolution above Full HD (1920 x 1200).

Screen of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+The 11-inch screen of the Galaxy Tab A9+ allows us to enjoy our entertainment. Photo credit: Samsung

It remains a screen where we can easily read articles and enjoy our entertainment such as Netflix, Disney+ and others.

For our navigation on the tablet as well as our video games, it is interesting to know that we can achieve a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It offers more fluidity.

Respectable performance

In terms of performance, the Galaxy Tab A 9+ is powered by the Snapdragon 695 chip.

We shouldn't expect a performance monster, but the tablet offers us enough for what we would call basic use (internet, video, music, etc.).

Coupled with this processor, you have the choice of 4GB or 8GB of RAM.

Performance of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+You can easily run two applications at the same time on the Galaxy Tab A9+. Photo credit: Samsung

We will have no problem running multiple applications at the same time and getting good performance speed.

However, when it comes to video games, we need to lower our demands and adjust the parameters in our favorite game accordingly.

Expandable storage

On the storage side we have the choice between a capacity of 64 GB or 128 GB.

This choice is consistent with our RAM choice. That means the 64GB storage model has 4GB of RAM and the 128GB storage model has 8GB of RAM.

The 64GB storage is lightweight. Especially since Samsung's system uses almost 15 GB and we still have 49 GB left.

On the other hand, you can insert a micro SD card with a maximum capacity of 1TB, which allows you to overcome this limitation.

Decent sound quality

Samsung may advertise that the Galaxy Tab A 9+ offers Dolby Atmos technology, but don't expect the tablet to have a big sound system.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ soundThe Galaxy Tab A9+ does have Dolby Atmos technology, but the sound isn't exceptional. Photo credit: Samsung

It's surrounded by four speakers, which offer decent quality but unsurprisingly lack power, especially at low frequencies.

Of course, if we want we can connect our headphones or our Bluetooth headset as long as it supports Bluetooth 5.1.

We can even connect our wired headphones via a 3.5mm jack.

Limited use cameras

Tablets rarely perform well when it comes to taking photos, recording videos, or making video calls, and the Galaxy Tab A 9+ is no exception to this trend.

There's an 8MP camera on the back, which quickly makes us want to take out our phone instead of using it.

The front camera is a 5 MP camera. Again, we may want to take our phone out, although most offer better resolution, but it's still fine for video calls.

Especially since it's much more pleasant to have a video call on an 11-inch screen than on your phone.

Is a compatible keyboard coming soon?

The Galaxy Tab A 9+ is equipped with a USB-C 2.0 port, but we also notice ports for a keyboard case.

However, at the time of writing, we couldn't find a single case of this type on Samsung's website.

If this comes to fruition, making it a hybrid tablet would be an interesting solution.

Good battery life

Finally, as far as the battery is concerned, it is a 7040mAh battery.

Depending on the refresh rate you choose (adaptive or 90Hz), you can get it between 9:30 and 10:30.

Charging is done via a USB-C cable. It's a shame that the tablet only supports a maximum charge of 15W. This means that charging from 0 to 100% takes just over 2 hours.

A competitive price

The fact is, at $329 for the 64GB storage model and $399 for the 128GB model, we're getting our money's worth.

When it comes to update support, Samsung isn't particularly transparent in this regard.

Based on their support trend for Galaxy A phones, we can imagine them offering Android updates until fall 2026 and security updates until fall 2027.

Is the Galaxy Tab A9+ tablet a good buy?

It's always a question of how we want to use our tablet.

If our goal is to have a larger screen than our phone to surf the Internet, play small games and watch videos, then this remains an interesting solution.

However, if you're looking for a tablet that can run really big games at full speed, edit videos, or launch energy-intensive applications, this isn't the best option.

The question then becomes whether we want the model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or the one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Apparently, with 8GB of RAM, the device makes it easier to run many applications at the same time.

If we don't mind the 4GB of RAM but want additional storage, it's better to spend the $60 difference on a micro SD card. A 512GB card costs around $60.

🔎 Hygrometry – definition and explanations

introduction

Thehygrometry characterizes the humidity, i.e. the amount of water in gaseous form that is present in moist air (or in another gas in certain industrial applications). It does not take into account water (Water is a chemical compound that is ubiquitous on Earth and is vital for everyone…), which is in liquid form (The liquid phase is a state of matter. In this form the material is…) or solid .

In meteorology (the aim of meteorology is the study of atmospheric phenomena…) it is one of the most important recorded and modeled quantities. It is measured with a hygrometer (A hygrometer is a device for measuring hygrometry (or relative humidity)) or with a thermohygrometer (since temperature is a physical quantity that is measured with a thermometer and…) Humidity (humidity is the presence of water or water vapor in the air or in a substance…) Air (Air is the gas mixture that makes up the Earth's atmosphere. It is odorless and…) are two partially dependent parameters).

Generally

The tables that summarize the physical and thermodynamic properties of air refer to dry air, i.e. without water vapor. As a matter of fact,

  • Humidity is variable (in mathematics and logic, a variable is represented by a symbol. It…) in space and time (time is a concept developed by humans to understand the…), on the scale of a few hours (The hour is a unit of measurement 🙂 or even less (e.g. when it rains or when dew forms) and inconsistently on the scale of hundreds of meters or sometimes even the meter (The meter ( Symbol m, from the Greek metron (measure) is the basic unit of the length of…), so it is impossible to define standard properties of the ambient air. Humidity is mainly influenced by the amount of available water, temperature and atmospheric currents .
  • The properties of moist air can vary greatly, as the water vapor content under normal weather conditions can reach up to 4% by volume (volume in physical or mathematical sciences is a quantity that measures expansion…); Air transport, transport (transportation is the process of moving something or someone from one place to another, most…), light, smells, certain molecules (including certain perfumes, hormones), the range of sounds, the transparency of the air , acidity and air pollution, halos or light pollution (The term light pollution (light pollution or photopollution for English speakers)…) etc. are thus affected by humidity. Water vapor is also one of the most important greenhouse gases (the greenhouse effect is a natural process that, given the amount of energy consumed…).
  • The evaporation of sea water (Stylized Oceans Ωcéans is a French documentary by…), rivers and clouds, the wind (wind is the movement of an atmosphere, a mass of gas located on the surface…), as well as sweat from vegetation and evapotranspiration are sources for increasing or regulating air humidity. In nature, all of these factors depend on solar energy for everything (the whole, understood as the totality of what exists, is often interpreted as the world or…) or part of it (solar energy is the energy transmitted by the sun their radiation is distributed directly). or from…) and from the living. In an anthropized or confined environment (house, car, workplace), the water vapor exhaled by humans (a man is an adult male individual of the species called modern human (Homo…)), that emitted from chimneys and exhaust pipes Water (POTS is an English acronym meaning “Plain Old Telephone System” and can be translated as “Plain Old Telephone System”) sea (The term sea includes several bedridden regions.) or a lake (In limnology, a lake is a large Bodies of water on a continent where there are…), even in tropical areas the air can be much drier than under the canopy (The canopy is the upper floor of the forest that is in direct contact with…) In the desert (The word desert today denotes an area that is barren or not very conducive to…) The air is extremely dry during this time the day (The day or day is the period between sunrise and sunset; it is there…), but can be damp at night.
  • For a constant amount of water vapor, a drop in temperature tends to cause an increase in relative humidity (the relative humidity (or humidity level), commonly known…) until saturation (100% relative humidity); the temperature then corresponds to the dew point temperature (the partial pressure of the water vapor is then the same at saturation pressure).
  • Atmospheric currents bring moisture to areas (high atmosphere, dry regions).
  • Fluctuations in humidity are caused by the presence of materials (a material is a substance of natural or artificial origin that humans form into…) and absorbents (gypsum, wood, etc.) and by the couplings between the water vapor/energy -Exchange (In the general sense, energy refers to everything that makes it possible to do or produce work…)” (evapotranspiration, land wind/sea wind, dew formation and its evaporation).
  • In a natural environment, dew and the very rapid appearance of mold on dead organic matter are indicators of humidity. © high relative value.

In a closed environment, high relative humidity favors allergies or pathologies caused by the presence of mites and mold spores. It is one of the elements of the so-called phenomenon of indoor pollution (The term indoor pollution refers to the forms of pollution that affect the environment…). Conversely, too low humidity is a factor in the drying out of the mucous membranes and also in the formation of dust. good health (health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and does not consist of…).

Neuralink | First human patient controls computer mouse with thoughts, says Elon Musk

(San Francisco) Elon Musk announced that the first patient to receive a brain implant from Neuralink, a startup he co-founded, was now able to control a computer mouse with his mind.

    Posted at 3:00 p.m.

    share

“The progress is good, the patient seems to have fully recovered, with no known side effects.” And he is able to control the mouse and move it on the screen using thoughts alone,” said the multi-billionaire on Monday evening during a conversation in an X audio lounge (Spaces).

The head of Tesla and SpaceX and owner of X announced at the end of January that Neuralink had used its first brain implant in a patient as part of its initial clinical trials.

Several other labs and companies have already succeeded in similar operations, allowing patients to perform computer tasks using their minds and even regain control of some of their limbs.

“We’re trying to get as much thought pressure as possible,” Musk continued. “We are currently working on the ability to click the mouse left and right and move it up and down. This is necessary if you want to click on something and drag it to another location.

Neuralink, based in Fremont, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area, received the green light from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in May.

His coin-sized implant has already been inserted into the brain of a macaque monkey who managed to play the video game “Pong” without a controller or keyboard.

Founded in 2016, Neuralink is far from the only organization developing a brain-machine interface (BMI).

For example, in 2019, researchers at the Grenoble Clinatec Institute presented an implant that allows a paraplegic person to animate an exoskeleton and move or move their arms.

Neuralink recently raised around $323 million from investors in two tranches, in August and November.

According to its own information, the start-up also wants to make paralyzed patients walk again, but also restore sight to blind people and even cure psychiatric illnesses such as depression.

Elon Musk also wants to offer his implant to everyone to enable better communication with computers and curb what he believes is a “risk to our civilization” that artificial intelligence poses.

Apple is preparing “The iPhone’s biggest update”! Artificial intelligence will be at the heart of Apple's future smartphone and there is a risk of a small revolution.

Apple is preparing big things for its iPhone 16

For seven years now, every new iPhone model has been equipped with a special processor that makes machine learning models ultra-fast and fluid: the “Neural Engine”. This element is an artificial intelligence accelerator specifically developed by Apple for machine learning. Although the number of computing cores in the latter has not changed since the iPhone 12, its performance has steadily improved over the generations. However, A recent report suggests a major breakthrough for the next iPhoneespecially with regard to the Neural Engine.

As a matter of fact, The new A18 processor will significantly increase the number of cores in its Neural Engine, i.e. from 16 to an as yet unspecified amount. But that's not all : Even the future M4 processor for Macs will benefit from a more powerful Neural Engine, according to the Economic Daily News. Information that confirms the words of Mark Gurman, who expects iOS 18 to be “the biggest update for the iPhone”. The system could feature generative AI technology designed to “improve the way Siri and the Messages app can answer questions and auto-fill sentences.”

    Improvements that are not retroactive?

This hardware upgrade is crucial because a more powerful Neural Engine would provide more capabilities for AI and machine learning tasks. This improvement is even more necessary with the likely arrival of iOS 18, which is rumored to offer: generative AI capabilities for apps like Siri, Shortcuts, Messages, and Apple Music. Additionally, previous rumors suggested that there would be some of these generative AI features exclusively available on iPhone 16 – due to the improved Neural Engine.

As we explained above, The report does not mention the exact number of cores of this new special processor, but a significant increase is expected, with at least 32 cores. Note that a similar technological leap had already taken place with the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, which had a Neural Engine with 8 cores, while the previous models only had 2. As for features related to artificial intelligence, Apple plans to unveil some of them at the next WWDC, the annual developer conference usually held in June. Although the official presentation of the iPhone 16 is scheduled for September 2024, Apple fans can get a taste of the coming technological advances as early as the summer.

The iPhone 15's battery is officially much longer lasting

The iPhone has a better battery than expected. Not so much in terms of autonomy, but rather in terms of lifespan, and that is very good news for consumers!

Batteries are one of the most sensitive components of a smartphone, whether it is an iPhone or another model. Their internal chemistry deteriorates over time and with use, which explains why you should think about replacing it after two or three years to regain adequate autonomy.
