"A crazy experience": Two associations from Draguignan invite you to a technological innovation fair in Las Vegas – Var-matin

“There’s a really positive, creative energy. We feel like it's breaking through!” Christophe Selves and his team have just returned from the prestigious Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, one of the most important trade fairs for technological innovation.

The commercial director of Comlight, a Dracénoise company specializing in IT, has been recording the event in his diary for around fifteen years. So far, visitors have to “observe the latest technologies and trends and get an impression of the Anglo-Saxon corporate culture”.

But since last year, Comlight has been represented at the event with its own stand. “For us, of course, it’s about promoting our company, but also highlighting our territory.”

That's why the company takes active Dracénoise structures into its suitcase: “We strive to implement innovative projects with meaning. From an economic point of view, I believe that I have received a lot in life. In my eyes, it’s important to know how to give back with this idea of a social dimension.”

This year the trip included Mode 83 and Résine Media, two associations that specialize in the development and promotion of digital uses.

A crazy experience

“It was a bit of a crazy experience, we couldn’t see how the days went by…” says Christelle Brochet, director of Résine.

She was responsible for the virtual medieval walk project in Draguignan (1). An entertaining and educational walk that immerses visitors in the Middle Ages using digital tablets. Goal: Show the city from a different perspective, reclaim its past by exploring its history.

Vincent Goletto, director of Mode 83, supported the Mobyletta (2) project, which is currently in the final testing phase. A carpool type mobility application for businesses and communities.

Confronting approaches

On site, the stand is linked to those of French Tech and the French Pavilion. We imagine there's excitement in the show's hallways. “CES’ reputation is well established. It is still THE world trade fair for technological innovation. Here we are in excess,” explains Christophe Selves.

For the Dracénoise associations, the main aim was obviously to promote their projects. “Emphasize that in the Var, in Draguignan, high-quality digital projects are carried out with real know-how!”

The aim was also to explore other ways of working. “For example, we exchanged a lot with development companies whose project processes differ from ours, especially when developing specifications,” explained Christophe and Christelle. The opportunity to see that there is no magic formula for creating a project. But recipes, different and all equally functional.”

1. A project initiated and financed by the City of Draguignan.

2. A project developed on behalf of the Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor and Solidarity.

“I loved introducing Draguignan to the Americans”

CES is obviously a special environment. This is even more true if you have never set foot there. And in order to showcase their successes, those responsible at Mode 83 and Résine had to change their habits. “We had to adapt the way we carried out our projects. By favoring an entry point that consists of asking questions, they go into detail. For example, for Mobyletta we could start the discussion like this: “Do you know how many people in your company carpool?” »
Because, in their opinion, “this specialized American audience doesn’t really like overly formal introductory “pitches.” We have to speak to them quickly to convince them. We have therefore learned to move forward in presenting our tools. »
Something they have tackled diligently. With good feedback at the end.
Constructive exchange
“For the medieval walk, we presented the project on a tablet and described the city: the city walls, the streets… It was nice to see how people reacted with “Whaou”. “I loved introducing Draguignan to the Americans,” smiles Christelle Brochet. Especially because they love everything related to the Middle Ages, dragons… historical heritage. »
The Dracénois strengthened their contacts from state to state. “On the whole, the discussions were constructive. There you really listen and try to understand the content of the projects. We've expanded our address book with developers, particularly players in Quebec. »
It remains to be seen whether these contacts will bear fruit. “There are a lot of people at the fair. It usually takes several months to measure the extent of the exchange,” emphasizes Christophe Selves. Which intends to do it again next year. “We hope to be able to bring together a few more local actors with meaningful projects for the next edition. »

NASA loses contact with its helicopter on Mars – Le Journal de Québec

NASA lost contact with its small helicopter called Ingenuity on Mars while it was making its 72nd flight, the space agency said, saying it was looking for a way to restore communications.

The helicopter, which looks like a large drone, became the first motorized vehicle to fly on another planet in 2021. He arrived on Mars with the Perseverance rover, which serves as a relay for data transmission between the helicopter and Earth.

Ingenuity reached an altitude of 12 meters during its flight on Thursday, NASA said in a statement released Friday evening.

But “during descent, communication between the helicopter and the rover ended earlier, before landing,” NASA wrote.

The teams responsible for the helicopter are “analyzing the available data and considering next steps to restore communications with the helicopter,” the American space agency added.

The flight was planned to “check the helicopter's systems after it landed earlier than planned on the previous flight,” she said.

Switched on for visual inspection.

NASA had temporarily lost contact with the helicopter in the past, particularly for a longer period of about two months last year, but this interruption was planned at the time.

Originally, the Ingenuity, which weighs just 1.8 kg, was only supposed to launch five times, but the mission exceeded all expectations.

In total, the helicopter covered around 17 kilometers and flew to a height of 24 meters.

Its longevity is remarkable, especially considering that it has to survive freezing nights on Mars and warms up thanks to solar panels that charge its batteries during the day.

He became the traveling companion of the Perseverance rover, whose mission is to search for traces of ancient life on Mars.

IN PICTURES | 4 students leave a dead bull in front of the house of a rival fraternity – TVA Nouvelles

Four Oklahoma college students have been arrested and charged with leaving the carcass of a bull outside the house of a rival fraternity.

Luke Ackerley, Brody Shelby, Andrew King and Bennett Fady were charged for allegedly unlawfully handling and disposing of animal remains.

On December 1, the body of a longhorn bull was found in front of the Oklahoma State University Farmhouse Fraternity. The next day, the university's football team faced the Texas Longhorns.

***Warning, these images may be disturbing***

Members of the farmhouse told police they believed the carcass was delivered by Alpha Gamma Rho, a rival fraternity.

In addition, the animal's stomach was open and the message “F*ck FH” was engraved on the left side.

Investigators noticed on surveillance video that three people in a white truck pulling a trailer dumped the remains of the cattle on the farmhouse brotherhood's lawn while a fourth accomplice drove the vehicle.

They easily managed to find the truck, its driver and his three suspected accomplices.

According to the police, an impressive party took place the day before on a farm where the animal lived.

The obituary indicated that the bull died of natural causes before being transported.

The four arrested Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity members have all pleaded not guilty.

Motorola Razr Plus 2024 and Razr 50 Ultra: Leaks with a well-known design – notebookcheck.biz

MSPoweruser claims to have received the first render image of Motorola's upcoming foldable smartphone. Unlike many of its competitors, Motorola currently sells two foldable smartphones. On the one hand, in North America it offers the Razr 40razr Gen 3, a relatively inexpensive device that uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 device. On the other hand, there is also the Razr 40 Ultra (Razr+), a direct competitor to the Galaxy Z Flip5, which, however, uses an older chipset than Samsung's.

According to MSPoweruser, the device pictured below is more likely to do the latter than the former. However, the website has not provided any evidence to support this claim other than the following statement:

The phone will be available in the US via Verizon Wireless… under the Razr+ brand.

Assuming Motorola sticks with its current nomenclature, the new Razr+ would be sold outside of North America as the Razr 50 Ultra. It seems that Motorola has not changed the design of its devices from generation to generation. In fact, the single image provided by MSPoweruser could easily be mistaken for a new full-color Razr 40 Ultra. MSPoweruser adds that Motorola has codenamed its upcoming Razr flagship “Glory” and is developing it under the model number “XT-2453-3” with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether Motorola will replace the Razr 40 Ultra with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 based Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
