This is the horrific moment an Oklahoma highway patrol officer is thrown into the air after a vehicle plows into the car he was stopping – but luckily the trooper escaped with only minor injuries.
“Hopefully this is my career fear,” said Officer Jesse Gregory, showing a local news crew the cut on his forearm.
Dashcam footage from Jan. 18 shows the death-defying moment on I-40 near Cimarron Road.
Gregory of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was talking to a driver during a traffic stop on the highway when the vehicle plowed into him at full speed, sending glass and the trooper flying through the air.

Officer Jesse Gregory was violently thrown during the incident but escaped with minor injuries
The car came out from behind them and is seen crashing violently into the vehicle Gregory stopped on the side of the road.
Gregory was thrown violently into the grass, while the vehicle he had stopped immediately fell into pieces from the impact. Both vehicles were seriously damaged in the accident.
The highway department reported that those involved were “treated and released” after the wild accident. It's unclear whether anyone was held responsible for the initial stop or the subsequent crash.
Gregory said he didn't even remember the incident.
The officer told News9, “When I watched the video, I don't even remember standing up with the barrel.”

The accident left Gregory with a scar on his arm. “When it threw me out of the vehicle, I think it really took the brunt of the impact and most of the damage,” he said of the injury

Gregory was involved in another incident at a different traffic stop just last month.
The incident, which was also captured on the dashcam, showed a car plowing into a stopped vehicle.
In that incident, the officer – a neighbor of Gregory's – was thrown into the air. Gregory, who was nearby, yelled, “Hey, are you okay, bro?”
“He was hit in the exact same situation,” Gregory explained.
The officer said it was alarming and crazy “for something like this to happen to two police officers within the same month.”
