The three episodes tell a kidnapping story that made headlines in the US in 2015: that of Denise Huskins, who was kidnapped after she and her boyfriend Aaron Quinn were victims of a home invasion. The focus of each episode of the Netflix series is to tell this story from the perspective of the various protagonists : First that of Aaron, who the detective in charge of the case, Mat Mustard, quickly saw as the main suspect, even though there was no evidence that could incriminate him. We then witness the testimony of Denise, who resurfaced two days later and was also considered a liar by Detective Mustard of the Vallejo Police Department in California.
Police were harassed after the series was posted online
