The polls come one after the other, bringing bad news for the Liberal Party of Canada, which now has similar electoral intentions to the NDP.
A poll conducted by the company Nanos on behalf of the CTV network now shows that the Conservatives under Pierre Poilievre have a voting intention of 40.6%, an increase of 1.9 points in four weeks.
The Liberals, for their part, continue their decline and now have to make do with 23.8% of voting intentions, a decrease of 2.4%. This rate is close to the 21.9% of the vote attributed to Jagmeet Singh's NDP.
As a bonus, 36% of Canadians choose Pierre Poilievre as their preferred potential prime minister, compared to 20% for Justin Trudeau and 15% for Jagmeet Singh.
“The trend for Pierre Poilievre is the highest of any Conservative leader in the last decade, including Stephen Harper,” noted pollster Nik Nanos in an interview with CTV News.
Trudeau's departure, the only salvation?
Furthermore, another poll conducted by Nanos for the Globe and Mail shows that the only real solution for the Liberals to improve their chances would be to sack their leader before the next election.
In fact, 39% of Canadians believe Mr. Trudeau's departure and his replacement with a new leader is the best thing for the party. A quarter of respondents said the Liberal Party should talk more about the economy to improve its chances.
Nearly 3% of Canadians said keeping Mr. Trudeau at the helm was the solution to the party's rise in the polls.
