Thanks to the popularity of Robert Eggers’ The Northman, the Vikings are back.
Viking Raiders are back prominently in WWE programming, currently embroiled in a rivalry with The New Day and according to Fightful Select, The New Day are likely to sport the Norse duo’s shields, runes and face paint tonight’s episode of “WWE Smackdown”
As of Thursday night, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston should give their best impressions of Erik & Ivar. According to the report, New Day will mock the Raiders’ old fun-loving characters, who took on a dark edge when they attacked New Day on the June 24 edition of WWE Smackdown.
New Day was 2/3 strong during the feud as Big E is still recovering from a broken neck sustained earlier this year. E recently updated the WWE Universe and said that while the recovery hasn’t been as quick as he would like, he’s still on his way to recovering from the injury. Big E isn’t worried about recovery, saying he’s been patient with his body and has even considered retirement.
According to the report, today’s Smackdown will unveil the guest referee for the upcoming The Usos & The Street Profits tag team title match. A guest referee was required after controversy over the end of the teams’ last game. Both the Usos and Street Profits are scheduled for today’s WWE Smackdown, which will be broadcast from the Amway Center in Orlando, FL
Drew McIntyre, Men’s Money In The Bank winner Theory, Sheamus, MVP, WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan, Natalya and Madcap Moss are also scheduled for tonight’s show.
