The Laval Rocket failed to reach the 10 shots per period mark at one point on Friday night, but that didn't stop the American League team from earning a 5-2 win over the Wolf Pack in Hartford.
The Rocket dominated shots on goal, 36-24, but still came out of trouble thanks to the brilliance of Jared Davidson, who scored a hat trick with his 6th, 7th and 8th goals of the season.
The game was only 51 seconds old when Anton Blidh scored the first goal before Mitchell Stephens – who was ignored on waivers three weeks ago – scored his seventh goal of the season on a power play at the very end of the first engagement.
The rest of the game belonged to Davidson, who began his hat trick with 4:40 left in the second period with a pass from Mitchells before continuing his work by trapping the Wolves on a power play midway through the third period and then his hat trick completed an extraordinary evening with a goalless goal.
Tobie Bisson was the other scorer for the Rocket, while Brett Berard was in charge for the Wolf Pack.
This means the Rockets remain well engaged in the race for the playoffs, although their captain Gabriel Bourque will be out for a period of up to four weeks due to a lower-body injury.
