The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra adds a 200MP camera and the latest processor from Qualcomm

The new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is even closer to the new Galaxy Note with flatter edges on the screen and curved sides. In addition, Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone ups its photographic capabilities with a 200-megapixel sensor and an enhanced RAW mode to take advantage of the device.

With the latest Qualcomm processor, Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, 200MP camera and of course support for the S Pen, the Ultra seems like the quintessential flagship device.

The ambition to become the best camera phone on the market

Compared to the predecessor Galaxy S22 Ultra, the lenses of the S23 rear camera system are even larger.

The main photo sensor is able to vary the number of pixels to better adapt to the image conditions. It can combine 16 pixels into one for brighter, more detailed photos, or you can shoot in full 200-megapixel mode, giving you a lot more freedom in cropping your shots.

Other improvements to the Galaxy S23 Ultra include a sharper 12-megapixel front camera, a new Galaxy-exclusive Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that promises lightning-fast performance, and a flatter display optimized for use with the S Pen .

With the Expert RAW function, which can be downloaded (free) from the Galaxy Store, it is possible to take photos in 50 Mpx for more detailed and dynamic images, or use the astrophoto with manual exposure, or let the device choose planets and take in constellations with clarity. Expert RAW is supported on S23 series, S22 series, S21 Ultra, S20 Ultra, Note20 Ultra, Z Fold4, Z Fold3 and Z Fold2 devices.

Less curved screen

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has received a slight facelift as the 6.8-inch QHD+ curved screen is slightly flatter. Samsung made this choice to allow users to write notes and draw to the edge of the screen using the phone’s retractable stylus. Additionally, with a slightly less curved screen, the S23 Ultra has slightly flatter sides that make it easier to hold with a firmer grip.

Speaking of the screen, its 120Hz technology intelligently optimizes the refresh rate to smooth the action and extend battery life.

For its resistance, its Gorilla Glass promises good solidity. With an IP68X rating, this Galaxy S23 Ultra can withstand immersion in 1.5 meters of water and is protected from dirt, dust and sand for 30 minutes. This is great news for a device of this price.

Recycled Materials

As for the materials of the S23 Ultra, the company uses more recycled materials for the phone, such as discarded fishing nets and recycled water barrels. Glass PET film, recycled glass and sea plastic are ECV (Environmental Claims Validation) certified. And the packaging is made entirely of recycled paper.
