A great enthusiast of blues music, the actor Stéphane Brulotte (Warnings, District 31) invented a musical story and invited actor friends, including Normand D'Amour, to take part. so here it is The Skid: the story of a blues, A Side trip Musical with a blues background and an Agatha Christie-style story.
Stéphane Brulotte has always loved the blues. Having grown up with Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, James Brown and Ray Charles, he has long wanted to do a musical project where he could do justice to his passion. Around 2016 or 2017, he started writing a show that included music and storytelling.
In his free time, he appeared on stage a few times with a few actor friends before the pandemic brought everything to a halt. Now the troupe is traveling again this winter, supported by Productions Martin Leclerc (Pour une histoire d'une soir, Beau Dommage symphonique).
Travel to the United States
In La dérape: l'histoire d'un blues we follow Quebecer Stevie Burnett (Stéphane Brulotte) as he sets out to search for his biological father in the USA. He traveled from Chicago to Memphis and to New Orleans.
This entire journey is accompanied by the music of these places. Of course there is blues, but also gospel, country and rock and roll.

On stage we find seven actor-musicians: Stéphane Brulotte, Normand D'Amour, Frédérike Bédard, Pascale Montreuil, Charles Imbeau, André Barnard and Ludovic Bonnier.
“There’s a bit of Agatha Christie as a type in the story too [Stevie Burnett] “Recognizes that his father fled from the FBI,” says Stéphane Brulotte. There was a murder. […] People coming into the room think they’re watching a blues show, but we’re really telling a story.”
The show The Skid: the story of a blues will be presented on January 25th (Maison des arts Desjardins, Drummondville) and January 31st (Cinquième salle de la Place des Arts, Montréal). For information: Productionsmartinleclerc.com/la-derape.
