Lawmakers from the ruling coalition and the Frente Amplio are seeking an agreement on the Special Commission for Innovation, Science and Technology.
At its last meeting, the Commission noted the need to consult the Communications Services Regulatory Unit in order to provide in writing its opinion on the initiative presented in 2021 by the Frente Amplio.
According to Lilián Galán, representative of the Broad Front and President of the Commission, the proposal was highly appreciated by representatives of the Ministry of Interior, the Secretariat of Intelligence and the Agency for Electronic Government and Information and Knowledge Society.
In statements to La Diaria, he explained that it was an educational project whose aim was to train children, young people and their parents in network management.
MPs from the ruling coalition are protesting against three articles that refer to the blocking of websites through administrative measures without a court decision.
The initiative’s goals include preventing material available in the digital environment from “visually depicting a child or young person engaging in real or simulated sexually explicit behavior.”
In addition, avoid any depiction of the sexual organs of minors or adolescents available on digital platforms for primarily sexual purposes, deception, sextortion and involuntary exposure to sexual material.
