“Sell the team, dude!” Trevor May snatches ownership from A in his retirement message
Athletics pitcher Trevor May addresses team owner John Fisher while announcing his retirement on a Twitch stream.
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Trevor May ripped off owner John Fisher when he announced his retirement on his Twitch stream on Monday.
“Sell the team, dude. … Sell it, man,” he said. “Someone who is actually proud of the things they own should own something.” There are actually people who don’t give a shit about the game. Let her do it. Take mom and dad’s money somewhere else, idiot.
Fisher, whose parents founded Gap, is trying to move the A’s to Las Vegas, which is being heavily criticized by Oakland fans. Fisher has been unpopular with the fan base for years, as the team regularly ranks near the bottom of the payroll.
The A’s finished a major league worst 50-112 this season.
“If you want to be a greedy f—, then own it,” May said. “There’s nothing weaker than being afraid of cameras. …Do what you’re going to do, brother. Anyway, you’re a billionaire, you exist, you have all this power – you shouldn’t have any because.” You don’t deserve any of it, but whatever.
A veteran of nine years in the majors, May spent his first six years with the Minnesota Twins before spending two seasons with the New York Mets. The 34-year-old right-hander had 21 saves for the A’s in 2023, going 4-4 with a 3.28 ERA in 46⅔ innings.
He finished his career with an impressive performance, going 1-0 with nine saves and a 0.00 ERA in his last 15 appearances.
