Paris-. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) today outlined its expectations for the forum that Slovenia will host in February to promote global governance of artificial intelligence (AI).
In a statement, the multilateral organization praised the space for debate that the event planned for February 5 and 6 at the Brdo Congress Center in Kranj will provide and the opportunity to take stock of the sector's progress and challenges.
Ministers and delegates from UNESCO's 194 member states will meet at the forum, convened by the organization's director general, Audrey Azoulay, and Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, stressed. The meeting will provide details of the progress countries have made in developing standards to ensure that AI serves the public good, starting with UNESCO's adoption in November of recommendations on the ethics of using the new technological tool 2021.
In this regard, the Paris-based organization highlighted that more than 50 nations have resorted to these recommendations to improve their laws and policies.
According to UNESCO, the World Forum in Slovenia will promote international cooperation in the field of AI thanks to the experiences and best practices that states will exchange.
The event program includes the signing by a dozen private groups of the multilateral organization's recommendations for the ethical use and good of humanity of AI.
