A 13-year-old girl was kidnapped and sexually abused in Texas She was rescued in Southern California when passersby saw her getting up a piece of paper with the inscription “help me” (“Help”) from a parked car. The episode happened on July 9th in Long Beach, south of Los Angeles. Officers responded to a 911 call and noted that the “girl was visibly shaken and distraught.”
Arrested the man who kidnapped her in Texas – Steven Robert Sablan, 61, of Cleburne, Texas, has been arrested and charged by a federal grand jury with kidnapping and transporting a minor with intent to sexually assault, US Attorneys in Los Angeles said. Sablan is currently being held at the Federal Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles.

He raised a gun and forced her into his car. According to the report, the girl had left home without telling her parents because she was trying to visit a school friend who had moved to Australia a year earlier, but with whom she had kept in touch via an internet chat. Then the man stopped the car and sexually assaulted the girl. This told him to stop but feared she would be hurt if he didn’t, police said. Sablan sexually assaulted the girl multiple times en route from San Antonio through New Mexico and Arizona and on to California. Meanwhile, the girl’s mother reported her missing to San Antonio authorities on July 7.

When Long Beach police officers arrived, Sablan stood in front of the car and watched the girl say the word “help.” During the arrest, officers found a pair of handcuffs in the back pocket of Sablan, who was wanted in Fort Worth for burglary. A black plastic handgun, a leaflet that read “Help me,” a switchblade, and black handcuffs were found during a search of the vehicle. The man had a history of armed robbery. The girl was placed in the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services.
