It's a dog eat world.
A scandal that has gripped the record dog world has led to Guinness World Records temporarily rejecting applications for both the oldest living dog and the oldest dog ever, The Post can confirm.
Bobi was reported to be 30 years and 266 days old on February 1, 2023, when Guinness World Records certified him as the new record holder for both the oldest living dog and the oldest dog of all time.
Bobi passed away in October 2023, just months after his 31st birthday, and his death was announced on Facebook by Dr. Confirmed by Karen Becker, a veterinarian who met the dog several times.
“Last night this sweet boy earned his wings,” she wrote. “Although he outlived every dog in history, his 11,478 days on earth would never be enough for those who loved him. Good luck Bobi…you taught the world everything you weren’t supposed to teach.”

According to the American Kennel Club, the pooch was a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a herding breed with an average life expectancy of 12 to 14 years.
However, doubts have recently been raised as to whether the dog from Portugal was really the oldest dog ever – even though his date of birth had previously been confirmed by the Serviço Medico-Veterinário do Município de Leiria (Leiria Municipal Veterinary Service) and SIAC, one of the Portuguese government authorized pet database.
People are now wondering why photos of Bobi as a young puppy show him with white paws while photos of him in his older age show him with brown paws.
Due to skepticism, as well as an investigation by WIRED, GWR is conducting a formal review of the file. It involves reviewing evidence on file, seeking new evidence and contacting experts and people associated with the original application, The Post has learned.

Applications will be suspended during ongoing review until all results have been confirmed and reported.
“No action has yet been taken regarding record holders, all actions will be determined by the outcome of the review,” a spokesperson clarified on reports that Bobi had been stripped of the title.
