An Ohio cosmetic surgeon has had her medical license revoked for being reckless with patients who have been under the knife and who have suffered “unusual” complications after filming live during surgeries.
“We found an extreme lack of professionalism. His posts are executed as a marketing ploy. dr Grawe’s social media was more important to her than the lives of the patients she treated,” one of the medical board members said bluntly on Wednesday, according to CBS Austin.
On Wednesday, Dr. Katharine Roxanne Grawe, known as Dr. Roxy had her medical license permanently revoked by the Ohio Medical Board.
In addition to disregarding medical confidentiality, the woman would also have put her patients at risk by taking her eyes off her hands in the middle of the operation to read and answer questions on her cell phone, which was filming the procedure live.
His behavior resulted in unusual complications in at least three patients, “caused by the recklessness and disregard for the rules of the practice of medicine in Ohio,” said Council Vice President Dr. Jonathan B. Feibel, according to the New York Times.
In his opinion, otherwise the camera “would have amplified his reckless behavior,” he added.
“I ask from the bottom of my heart that you consider my thoughts with an open mind. It humbled me more than you think. I’m ready to change my social media practices and will never livestream surgery again,” responded Dr. Roxy reportedly according to CBS Austin.
The cosmetic surgeon did not respond to her first warning, she had received two letters to warn her, in October 2018 and September 2021, which even led to training on social media professionalism and ethics – to no avail.
“It’s finally over. That chapter of my life is over, but I will never forget it,” responded one former patient, Mary Jenkins, who consulted Dr. Grawe, who was undergoing breast reconstruction after beating cancer, told CBS. austin
